A partial solar eclipse will be visible in Southern Illinois just prior to sundown on October 23, 2014.  The SIU Physics Department in cooperation with the Astronomical Association of Southern Illinois will host a free eclipse observation on Oct 23, 4:30pm to sunset at the Neckers building on the SIU Carbondale campus.  Special solar telescopes will be available to the public to view the eclipse as well as free solar eclipse glasses provided to the first 400 visitors.

Author Aaron Reynolds will be visiting our school on April 28th.  He is the author of many children's books including the Caldecott Honor Award winning book Creepy Carrots!  PTO would like to share the opportunity to purchase Creepy Carrots!  Scholastic Reading Club is currently offering the paperbook for only $4.00.  Mr. Reynolds will be autographing when he comes to our school.  Books may be purchased in advanced or in the spring.  Deadline for the advanced order is Wednesday, October 15th.  Make checks payable to the PTO.

Book Fair starts Tuesday, October 28th!  Last day to purchase books will be Friday, October 31st!

It's a Winter Wonderland . . . .Daddy Daughter Dance. This celebration will be held on Saturday, November 8th from 6:00-9:00 at the Elm Street Baptist Church.  The Frozen Event is $20 per couple w/$5 for additional daughter(s).  The event includes: music, dancing, live entertainment, finger foods, raffles, and other attractions!  For ticket information contact Mandy Pfeaster @ 924-3851 or a Studio 84 National Level Team Member.  Friday, October 20th is the last day to purchase tickets.
