Keep saving those Box Tops!  Box Tops are due on Friday, October 3rd.  Two winners will be drawn for September - (1) to receive Carruther's Haunted Hay Ride Tickets and (1) to receive SIUC Symphony tickets.  Please trim your Box Tops and put in baggies of 50 each.  Write your first and last name on the bag and turn into your teacher.

General's Eagles (fifth grade boy's running club) will have a parent meeting on Thursday, September 25th at 5:30 in the GJAL music room. The original flier that went home stated the 26th. This meeting is not mandatory; however, we would like to meet everyone and have a Q&A period for parent questions and concerns.  Please contact Mr. Presswood or Mr. Griswold at 684-6061 if you have any questions.

A partial solar eclipse will be visible in Southern Illinois just prior to sundown on October 23, 2014.  The SIU Physics Department in cooperation with the Astronomical Association of Southern Illinois will host a free eclipse observation on Oct 23, 4:30pm to sunset at the Neckers building on the SIU Carbondale campus.  Special solar telescopes will be available to the public to view the eclipse as well as free solar eclipse glasses provided to the first 400 visitors.

Tryouts for the Blue Devil Band color guard are coming soon! There will be three days of required practice from 3:30 to 4:30 on Monday, April 27,Tuesday, April 28, and Thursday April 30. The tryouts will be on Tuesday, May 5, from 3:30 to 5:00.  All students will be meeting in the MMS cafeteria for practices and tryouts. In order to practice and try out there must be a current physical on file. Fifth grade students must arrange transportation to MMS, in advance, for practice and tryouts.

Third Annual Jerry Wilson Bike-a-thon/Walk-a-thon on Sunday, May 3, 2015.  Sign up begins @ 12:00 @ St. Ann's Parish Hall in Raddle, IL.  Fundraiser starts @ 1:00.  Prize awarded for the most money raised.  Free hot dogs and chips for participants.  All participants must collect pledges before the event.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.
